India going digital in medical care – Online Registration System

Posted on

As part of Digital India Initiative the government has come up with ORS which enables patients to get an OPD appointment, lab reports or blood availability in any government hospital online.

Counter based OPD registration and appointment system through Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) has been digitalized. ORS is a platform linking various hospitals across the country for Aadhar based online registration and appointment. The portal facilitates online appointments with various departments of different hospitals using eKYC data of Aadhaar number, if patient’s mobile number is registered with UIDAI. In case if patient’s mobile number is not registered with UIDAI it uses patient’s name.

This is a laudable initiative which would make life easier for the patients and save on time and effort. Digitalization of healthcare sector is the way to go, even in the private sector there are many apps and portals which offers online appointments , lab reports , digital vault for medical records and treatment costs. Healthcare sector is going through a  major change which is inevitable and transparency in costs, affordability  and better customer service is the way forward.

We at hospitilio also thrive to bring transparency in pricing and services of different healthcare service providers enabling the patients to make an informed decision.
